Home Time supporters meet with ministers and MPs in last sitting week of Parliament
Last week, three young advocates with lived experience of homelessness led a delegation of Home Time supporter organisations to meet with ministers, MPs and advisers, including the Minister for Housing and Homelessness The Hon Clare O'Neil MP.
In the past two weeks, we have met with over 30 MP offices, putting forward a compelling case for creating a national target of 15,000 dedicated tenancies with support, and removing the youth housing penalty that blocks 16-24 year-olds from accessing community housing.
These meetings are important steps in building the relationships we need across the country to reform our housing system and create real housing outcomes for the 40,000 children and young people alone with nowhere to live each year.
Thanks to Homelessness Australia, The Salvation Army, Mission Australia, Community Housing Industry Association and Melbourne City Mission for being part of this delegation.
